Small Town Style

If you were to ask me where I am from, I would say South Jersey. I always get ridiculed for being a "Jersey girl" but South Jersey is MUCH different. My hometown, Woodstown, is what we like to call the middle of nowhere: a town surrounded by fields. Growing up here would have been so isolating without many of the friends with which I chose to surround myself; they were home to me. This philosophy has extended throughout my time at UMBC. I have made new lifelong friends who will always be home to me long after graduation in May.

  1. Since i've been through Woodstown a few times myself I completely understand where you are coming from. It is so deserted, I think i even saw a crop circle once. I think it's really great that you have so many good friends and you think of them as home. They must be really genuine friends, I wish I had friends like that.

  2. I have only been through New Jersey once, and I was certainly in a more populated area than the town you described. The stereotype of New Jersey is, oftentimes, a party state, due to the Shore and the way it is portrayed in the media. Thank you for sharing this piece of your life and teaching me something new. I can definitely relate to the small town culture you grew up in. Friends made my small town experience meaningful and enjoyable, as well!

  3. I can totally relate with the " living in the middle of nowhere" thing, my family is from Berlin Maryland, a little while south of Ocean City, and there is absolutely nothing around except trees and deer, so having people to talk to during the many summers i spent down there was very important.
